Bottom cultivatedThe Shipwreck Select branding reminds us of the dangers of navigating around Prince Edward Island's eastern point. In the 17th and 18th Centuries more ships were wrecked in the colliding tides of East Point than anywhere else around the shoreline of PEI. The tides have formed Canada's most spectacular sandy dune beaches but also one of Canada's most prized oysters. Only Shipwreck Selects can survive in these dangerously good waters. They're packaged in wooden boxes as a reminder of all of the wooden ships that did not survive the journey.
These oysters are harvested by a small group of dedicated fishers. These fishers harvest using the traditional oyster tongs to gather our Shipwreck Select oysters. Weather permitting these brave souls will sometimes use more modern harvesting techniques as they attempt to beat the tides before they're left high and dry. |

The Shipwreck Select shells are strong from being battered in the tides. Colourings are predominantly green but can also be blonde, brown, black, or even white. The Shipwreck Select meats are consistently full bodied. They are held on location until they are able to filter in the sweet flavours of the South Shore and also the briny flavours of the North Shore. |
